All About Wings

Let's start at the top: Wings.NU was registered on the 27th of July, 2021 with the express purpose of becoming my umbrella network, replacing the former Enchant.Nu/315.network and their many, many predecessors. The name was snapped up thanks to the brilliant Hostinger, and the webspace likewise -- a really wonderful service, I can't praise them highly enough.

Why?

Why does this place exist? In a world choked with social networking and Linktrees in Bios and all that other nonsense? Hell, why does it even exist within the actual handmade personal website sphere, seeing as these days, all you need is a bad-on-purpose layout and a page of links to be the Queen of Neocities or whatever? Hell, there are AI agents rebuilding old websites at the click of the button. What's even the point of anything here?

...I don't know. Not really. I just can't quit this hobby, insert dramatic music here. But seriously, I can't. I don't know whether that's because my brain was so thoroughly broken as a kid that I always ran to the world online to hide from the hideousness of real life -- the horrendous pressure of parents refusing to give room to breathe, cruel schoolmates, an early-onset disease that nobody wanted to understand, much less could, the horrific tsunami rush of the real world swallowing more and more of my childhood every day. Some very young, phenomenally stupid part of my brain always kind of hopes each time that I come back online, or add something to the Wired -- no, not the internet, the Wired -- that it will matter. An older, sadder part of me gets that it's just not possible anymore. Real life has bled into online, and vice-versa...and yet, you can still be classed as "terminally online". I can't work it out. I just make websites, because perhaps there's a real, flesh-and-blood person out there who wants to escape, still, too.

Can you design a site for me?
Maybe? If you're looking for a static personal site layout, hit me up! If you're looking for a business site with all the bells and whistles and WordPress and SEO and all that gunk, no, sadly -- I don't offer that. But I'd love to talk personal static sites any time!

Can't you make me a free layout?
...no. I have bills to pay, y'know? ^^;

Can I use a previous layout of yours?
Bloody no. Seriously, do not do this. It's vile.

Why do you have so many domains?!
Because I can, and when I buy them, I usually have plans for them. These plans do not always come to fruition, sadly :(

Can I buy [x] domain off you?
Put it this way: I won't necessarily say no, depending on the domain, but you will have to pay a fair bit for the name, due to...I mean, they're in use at the moment, and shifting files around etc is time-consuming. As is all the rigmarole of transfer and whatnot!

Oof, I know this is a cop-out of an answer, but the truth must be told: I am a wretchedly bad teacher. The few friends I've written tutorials for ANYTHING for are still attempting to halt the neurological damage. You would honestly probably find a much better tutorial than I could ever give by Googling whatever you've seen. I didn't invent any of it, after all; I'm just using it!
